Fatubesi, with love

With a year left of living in Timor, I realized I need to travel more to the small corners of attraction that I may never see again.

First on this list was the small village of Fatubesi. Conveniently it is where the only paved road in my area leads to. I told my family that the coming Saturday I was going to visit. My sister Titi said she wanted to come, so I extended the offer. The next day my sister Ester got wind of the day trip and wanted in. On the day of as we were leaving, my neighbor Dout asked where we were going. After hearing we were heading to Fatubesi, he decided he needed to come as well, and so the four of us set off to the popular Timorese Catholic Pilgrimage site just around the mountain. Though at first, I wanted to just go alone, I’m happy I could share the trip with the kids. It really was such a lovely time.
